Hello, Detroit! I am asking for your vote to be elected to serve on the DPSCD Board of Education. Why? Because I BELIEVE that THE critical factor in Detroit’s sustained revival is its ability to provide all of its citizens with a World Class Quality Education System, Again! For some, this belief is unattainable. Not to me. I ‘get’ Detroit. I was raised here, I practice law and pastor a church here and, for most of my life, I have lived here. I also ‘get’ DPSCD. I am a proud DPSCD alum, the father of DPSCD students, and a mentor and counselor to dozens more in my role as lead pastor at a Detroit area church that I started (The Ark Detroit). I also worked as a college admissions counselor at U of M-Ann Arbor where I helped scores of DPSCD students navigate the admissions process. As a result of this perspective, I know that the obstacles to a world class education system here are great. However, I BELIEVE that the inherent brilliance of DPSCD’s 50,000 students makes our potential even greater. I am asking for your vote because we need parents and community leaders like me who BELIEVE in the potential of the District, its students and families, and who have the passion, experience and vision to guide the District to greatness.
